These downloads present and analyze results from the Census of Population and Housing. This mandatory enumeration is conducted by the federal government and is used to determine reapportionment and redistricting. This is the most complete record of population, households, and housing units that is generated for communities and neighborhoods across the nation. It has been conducted every ten years since 1790. Records from these enumerations inform much of our understanding of our changing communities. Individual records, which are released 72 years after collection, are extensively used for genealogy and other family history research.
